Ultimate Waylon JenningsReviewsI looked for a Waylon Jennings collection similar to the cassette I used to own and enjoy years ago. I couldn't find a direct replacement so I bought this CD and love hearing the music again. The delivery of this item was prompt and was exactly what was displayed. I have ordered a few CD's from this provider and have never been disappointed! It's a great place for anyone trying to get into Waylon to start. Fans will note that there may be a couple of essential songs omitted, but it's still the best single disc comp. Warning: If you start with this comp, you will not end here as you will find yourself wanted the actual albums in full, especially anything from the 70's which is as good as it gets for country music. Right up there with The Man in Black. This is my first purchase of a "Walon Jennings CD" was very pleased with the songs and the good clear quality. Great voice! Listening makes me "want to sell my diamond rings and buy boots and faded jeans!". Highly recommend this one, enjoy. If you love Waylon Jennings then this is the cd for you. It has lots of his great hits. Average Rating:![]() |

Wanted! The OutlawsReviewsI finally found it again. I lost this cd and was so glad to find it again. All the greats!! Everyone should own this cd. I first owned this album back in the late 70's on 8 track, and I have wanted a cd for some time. A great selection of country by some great artists. a 10 on a scale of 10. Larry Anderson I put this album alongside Willie Nelson's "Red-Headed Stranger" as two of my most treasured albums. With Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, the Outlaws are another supergroup, like The Traveling Wilburys. This album does not disappoint. My favorite moment on the album is when Waylon has just completed his song, and then there is the familiar Willie Nelson instrumental guitar opening chords and the crowd goes wild. Willie has not even begun singing; I'm not even sure the audience can see him in the shadows, but they all recognize his guitar sound. Jessi is a superb song writer and she is featured in his album. With the passing of Waylon Jennings, this album has even more poignancy. To the best of my knowledge, the only way you can "buy" Jessi's "Looking for Blue Eyes" is by buying the whole album. It is worth it. I grew up on country music, with Waylon & Willie being among the most "modern" singers that my family listened to. At the time, I loved this album. I especially loved Jessie Colter. "I'm Not Lisa" still brings back memories. "Suspicious Minds" is really kind of schmaltzy and cliched, but I liked it then and I still like it. All these years later, I'm not sure I really needed a reissue with "lost" music, though. Truth be told, I don't find most of this music as compelling as I did back in my youth. Waylon & Willie both did much better work elsewhere. Tompall Glaser is forgettable, in my view. I still love Jessie Colter, though. I just wouldn't necessarily recommend her to others. Her voice is definitely an acquired taste. I loved the fact that one of The Outlaws was a woman, I guess. Some things never change. The CD itself is in great condition. There was confusion about my having already purchased it, and shipment was therefore delayed. The seller quickly rectified this oversight and remained in constant communication until my receipt of the item. Average Rating:![]() |

Less successful when it's sentimental (Waylon Jennings' "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys") than when it's wry (Willie Nelson's myth-puncturing "Me and Paul"), this cash-in compilation of previously released cuts was just in time to grab the first platinum record ever awarded a country album... |

Sesame Street Presents - Follow that BirdReviewsWe purchased this for our delayed four-year-old son and within just a few viewings, he was singing along with Waylon Jennings (Ain't No Road Too Long) and Alaina Reed (One Little Star). He has a better understanding of emotions after watching Big Bird go through such a range. It's now our go-to movie for bedtime. Great visual quality. Above all we enjoyed the childhood memories connected to the movie and its characters. Recommended! This was my grandsons' favorite movie, he's 25 now. We bought this for his son who will be 2 in March. It is a Christmas gift so we are not sure of the quality but it looks fine and clean, so I am sure it's fine. Can't wait to hear how they like it as I know they will watch it together. So glad it was available. It was delivered quickly. This was the very first movie I ever saw in a movie theater and I remembered it vividly. I had to buy it when my children became interested in Sesame Street. It is as much fun as I remember it being plus some. The moral and songs are what you would expect of a Sesame Street movie. It was mentioned that Elmo isn't in it and personally it's nice not having a muppet that is always the favorite and the center of attention being the main character. My children love the movie and I enjoy being able to share a piece of my childhood. This is a great movie. I was afraid when I watched it with my daughter that, though I loved it when I was younger, I would find it to be rather disappointing now (as has been the case with many "great" things I remember from my childhood)...not the case at all. I would be glad to watch it many more times again now. BE AWARE, if you are tempted to bounce over and buy the cheaper 2002 DVD version of this same movie, that it has no widescreen option, and will only play "formatted to fit your screen". If you prefer widescreen stick with this 2009 DVD version. Average Rating:![]() |

Follow That Bird is as much a journey through time as it is a romp past the Sesame Street stop sign. Curiously, the cast members--live ones like Gordon and Maria, not just the Muppets--have the timeless look to them... |

Lost Outlaw Performance [VHS]ReviewsThe quality of this video is excellent but I was disappointed in the performance itself. This video showcases the true talents of Waylon Jennings at the verry height of his carrer and the infamous "outlaw" movement. The music incased in this video is so remarkable that it can only be the one and only Waylon Jennings. I'm a total Waylon fanatic and any Waylon fans knows that theres only two ways to hear Waylon at his best and they are 1) turned up as loud as you can stand it, and 2) LIVE! This video contains both and is sure to keep any Waylon fan wanting just one more song after its over. The list of songs this video brings is totally awe inspiring. Here are a few of the songs this once in a lifetime preformance brings:Lonsome' on'ry and meanMammas dont let your babies grow up to be cowboysThis TimeHonkey tonk herosAre you sure Hank done it this way?Good hearted womanand many other great peices of music. If your a true Waylon fan the what are you waiting for? Buy the video now. to any fan of waylon i really advise you to buy this video: songs are very good, waylon is just perfect, if you liked the RCA 75/85 period this is the video you need. For the first time I can hear the music without interuptions or disturbing added comments: just waylon and a fabulous band especialy the steel guitarist...a great moment in the country music history ! I thought this was one of the best videos I have ever seen. It was just like being at the concert. I caught myself wanting to clap after each song. When he started singing he didn't stop until the end of the video. My daughter and I both bought it. It is great and I am so happy they found it and put it out to the public. In 1993 I bought this VHS in London and in 1999 it was wourned out so I had to buy a new one. Now I am waiting for it on DVD.I have been a fan of Waylon since erly 1970 and he is the greatest. This VHS is simply the best. Last summer I heard Waylon live at Solomon, Maryland and have the whole consert on my VCR, nearly 2 hours. It was a great moment for me to meet Waylon and Jessi behind sceen before the show and to talk with them. Wait for the DVD and buy The Lost Outlaw Performance and you wont regret it. Great West Collection - My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys [VHS]ReviewsNot happy with this purchase. To be fair, the video did not arrive for two weeks and was returned to the seller. I received an email saying that it would be resent. It was, and it arrived a few days later. Unfortunately, the plastic on the VHS tape was broken. It fell apart as soon as I removed the VHS from it's cardboard packaging. Bottom line: seller got the item to me, but it's broken. I still don't have the movie to watch. Not happy This movies' strongest point is that the actors and actresses who portray the characters are so believeable in their roles. Scott Glenn does a masterful job as the bull-rider H.D., Ben Johnson couldn't be better as the aging dad who is beginning to fail, and is so fearful of spending his final days in an "old folks' home". You empathize with H.D. as he struggles to keep his dad out of the nursing home, and you cheer for him as he painstakingly trains to ride the bull that if ridden would provide enough prize money to enable H.D. to realize his goal. The other actors and actresses who are intertwined in this movie are also masterful in their roles, including a true-to-life performance by the legendary Mickey Rooney. To put it in plain, everyday terms, this is just a charming, feel-good movie........ Haven't we all wished that we could go back and make it all better? H.D., a not so great bull rider is hurting, physically and emotionally. He goes home to heal his busted ribs and learns that his sister has put his father (H.D.'s hero) in a home for old folks. H.D. can't abide it. He needs money to save the family homestead and all he knows is bull riding. The icing on the cake is that his beautiful highschool sweetheart is now a widow. The rodeo is coming to a town not too far from home. Can H.D. draw and ride the bull that's never been rode? Does he have one good 8 second ride left in him? Can he stop rodeoing from town to town? The top prize is $100,000! Enough to save the homestead and start a new life! This is just a great movie for anyone that still dreams. A GOOD MOVIE..SOME PARTS WERE FUNNY,LIKE JUNIOR..LOL.BEST PART OF THE MOVIE WAS WHEN H.D WAS TRAINING..KEEPING HIS MIND FOCUS ON RIDING BULL'S..JUST TO PAY THE BILL'S! I lived in Midwest City Oklahoma when this movie was bein' Made. I loved the movie from the start. It was true and down to earth. This movie inspired me to ride bulls myself and represent Rodeo all the time. I am sad to see that this movie is not only hard to find, but also not available in a DVD form like other classic movies. This makes no sense to me. I would like to see it done better justic than it has recieved. Average Rating:![]() |
Waylon Arnold Jennings (June 15, 1937 – February 13, 2002) was an influential American country music singer and musician. A self-taught guitar player, he rose to prominence as a bass player for Buddy Holly following the break-up of The Crickets. He escaped death in the February 3, 1959 plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson when he gave up his seat to the latter.[1] By the 1970s, he had become associated with so-called "outlaws," an informal group of musicians who worked outside of the Nashville corporate scene. A series of duet albums with Willie Nelson in the late 1970s culminated in the 1978 crossover hit, "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys". In 1979, he recorded the theme song for the hit television show The Dukes of Hazzard, and also served as the narrator ("The Balladeer") for all seven seasons of the show.
He continued to be active in the recording industry, forming the group The Highwaymen with Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson. Jennings released his last solo studio album in 1998. In 2001, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
