I very much enjoy listening to this album. My favorite song is "Stroll Over Heaven With You." I highly recommend purchasing this album if you are a fan of Alan Jackson or country gospel in general. I agree with previous posters that I would like more of it and it is a little short, but what is there is very enjoyable.

Alan Jackson really is the best. When I am feeling down I put on this disc and sing the hymes, melting away my worries!

I ordered 2 of these cd's,1 for myself and 1 for my in laws, this is the most beautiful gospel cd I have ever heard...My father in law was very sick when I gave this to them and it soothed him so much he relaxed and fell asleep while listening to it..I play this several times a day and also put in on before I go to bed and off to sleep I go..This is a must for EVERYONE that loves gospel music..It arrived in a very timely manner and was just as I suspected..Was brand new as the seller stated and I will order from that seller again.. Have A BLESSED DAY

This CD is a family favorite. The music is wonderful, and is so soothing to the soul. We listen to this over and over and never get tired of it. It is the most listened to CD in our home.

If you are familiar with the old hymns you will love all of these songs and the way Alan sings them. If you are not familiar with them, you will really enjoy them as well and see why the hymns are so uplifting. So pure and without pounding instruments that just cover up the beauty of the message in these hymns. It is such a wonderful album that will encourage and edify you!

Wonderful album -- a must have for everyone into Country, a should have for everyone else. I do wish Amazon would pack CDs better -- this one, like almost all of them, arrived with a cracked case.

I have all the music of Alan Jackson (my favorite). He has one of the most soothing and sexy singing voices.

Alan Jackson is always a five star. If you are a Jackson fan you will love this one. I have never heard anything by Alan Jackson that I didn't like. Buy this by all means.

Gave as a gift to my son. He told me he really enjoyed the music. He is a Alan Jackson fan, as I am.

As I've seen with every order....absolutely excellent quality. Can't get better.

As a superstar who's revered by both the young country audience and traditionalists, Alan Jackson is at his finest when he's steers clear of trifles like "Chattahoochie" and takes those younger fans to school...

Nelson Mandela's Favorite African Folktales Nelson Mandela's Favorite African Folktales

I was moved by the fund raising effort support for HIV AIDS orphans in South Africa, familiar and admiring of the story collection released some years ago, I was delighted to listen through the entire collection. The blend of music and voice, brilliantly realized by a host of talented talents "Artists for a New South Africa", brings these stories alive! Libraries (like mine) and individuals will appreciate each and every track in this 3 CD set that is up for Grammy nomination.

We've given the audio book and the book as gifts to a number of people, and they've raved about it. I haven't heard every one of the readings but the ones I've listened to are superbly done. Artists for a New South Africa (ANSA), which produced the three CD audio book, assembled a distinguished cast that included (among many others)Desmond Tutu, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Samuel Jackson, Alan Rickman, Charlize Theron and Don Cheadle -- and had music composed and played by one of South Africa's leading musicians and sung by South Africa's best-known singer. The tales are collected from all over Africa, and they will interest adults as well as children. It's a wonderful present for Christmas or Hannukah or for a child's birthday. And, Hachette, the producer is giving the proceeds to ANSA and Nelson Mandela's Children's Fund which will use the money mainly to help AIDS orphans.

An all-star narration cast helps bring to life Nobel Peace laureate Nelson Mandela's collection of short stories that create a patchwork of legends drawn from all over the African continent, In one story, the children of an East African village must destroy a beautiful and enchanting bird that has brought bad luck to the surrounding countryside. In one story, a brave girl frees a prince from the spell that made him a python. From [...]

I became aware of this book/cd listening to a radio promotion for it. My sister lives and works in South Africa within the AIDS support community, I thought she might enjoy the acknowledgement of her efforts. I bought two copies one for me, one for her. Turns out it is not yet available in ZA - so my sister will be able to use the US discs I sent to entertain and educate her HIV kids. What more can you ask for. Excellent narrative performances by Artists who truly care.

This is a wonderful book filled with fables and tales for adults and children alike...well worth having as well as the companion, CD that shares the stories as told by famous voices.

The book was delivered in excellent condition. This is one of the best written books I have ever read. I loaned it to several people, because the book is so good, and they have bought the book, too. I am going to buy Denise's other book. She is truly a gift from God and Alan is blessed to have her!!! God bless her and her family. She is an inspiration to all.

Alan Eugene Jackson (born October 17, 1958 in Newnan, Georgia) is an American country artist who has sold over 50 million records. He was influenced by the new traditional country of the 1980s, and he was one of the most popular country singers of the 1990s, blending both honky tonk and mainstream country sounds and penning many of his own hits. In his career, he has recorded twelve studio albums and several compilations, all on the Arista Nashville label. More than fifty of his singles have reached Top 30 on the Billboard country charts, including twenty-five Number Ones. He is the recipient and nominee of multiple awards. Jackson is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and he was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001.

Career

In Tennessee, Jackson got a job in The Nashville Network's mailroom. Denise got him connected to Glen Campbell, who helped him jumpstart his career. Jackson eventually signed with Arista.

His very first album was an obscure independent release on Americana Records in 1987 and entitled: "New Traditional". This included the tracks: "W. Lee O'Daniel And The Light Crust Dough Boys", "They Call Me A Playboy", "Just Forget It, Son" and "Merle and George".

His second album, 1989's Here in the Real World, on Arista Records, was a major hit, as was his third (1991) album, Don't Rock the Jukebox. His 1992 album, A Lot About Livin' (And a Little 'bout Love) was a success, spawning five major singles. Also in 1992, Randy Travis charted three singles co-written by Jackson: "Forever Together", "Better Class of Losers", and "I'd Surrender All". Conversely, Travis co-wrote Jackson's single "She's Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)".

In 1994 Jackson left his management company, Ten Ten Management, which had overseen his career up to that point, and switched to Gary Overton.

It was around this time that Jackson also began gaining fame for his song-writing skills. Other country music artists who have charted with songs co-written by Jackson, include Clay Walker ("If I Could Make a Living"), Chely Wright ("Till I Was Loved By You") and Faith Hill ("I Can't Do That Anymore").
