Eagles is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California during the early 1970s. The group chose the name Eagles as a nod to The Byrds (as founding member Bernie Leadon had been in Dillard & Clark with former Byrds singer Gene Clark and in The Flying Burrito Brothers with former Byrds Gram Parsons, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke). Comedian Steve Martin records in his autobiography, Born Standing Up, that Frey was very particular that the name was Eagles and not The Eagles. The band played initially as Linda Ronstadt’s backing group.

The DVD is excellent! If you're an Eagles fan you'll really enjoy this concert. I had forgotten how much I liked them until viewing this DVD.

This was one of, if not the best, concert DVDs I've seen and I own about 20! They played everything you'd want to hear. It was neat how they played each others songs (Walsh, Henley and Eagles songs). The 2nd disc was particularly good, they really jammed. The acoustic section was a nice break between the semi-mellow 1st half and the rocking 2nd half. Schmitt, Frey and Walsh were the most entertaining on stage and Stueart Smith is a surprisingly good guitarist, I'd never heard of him. Walsh's "Life's Been Good" was fun and he jammed. Recommended for other 70s rock fans, but particularly Eagles fans!

What can I say, this thing is excellent. I may have already created a review, but I just had to add a couple things. If you're feeling down, pop this sucker in the DVD player and the blues disappear! No matter how crappy the mood, this is a sure cure. I've owned Hell Freezes Over, which was excellent as well, but I've never seen the Eagles have so much fun on stage. I love it, love it, love it.

This is one of the best, if not THE best, Eagles concerts I've ever watched. Farewell: 1 is essentially the definitive live collection of the most memorbale songs from the Eagles' amazing music career, as well as megahits from Joe Walsh's and Don Henley's solo projects. The Eagles have aged since they first hit the music scene decades ago, but these guys are very much at the top of their game. Joe Walsh performs better on guitar than ever. Timothy Schmit and Don Henley's voices sound the best I've ever heard them sound. The Eagles really went all out for Farwell: 1. When watching this concert, its evident that these guys really know how to perform to a crowd and truly enjoy what they do. Don really gets a chance to show what an amazing frontman he is, especially when performing his 80's solo career songs with the Eagles. Bass player, Timothy Schmit's impressive, high pitched vocals shine on songs like "I Can't Tell You Why", "Love Will Keep Us Alive", "Hotel California" and "Hole in the World". Joe Walsh gets a chance to be the smart-assed, fun-loving, goof that he truly is. (I vote Joe for the role of the next Joker in future Batman movies.) Walsh is given several oppurtunities to show off his refined lead guitar and soloing skills. My only qualm is that some of the lead guitar and solo parts of songs were handed over to the Eagles' stand-in concert guitarist, instead of Joe. Walsh, however, does get to perform some of his solo career songs, such as "Life's Been Good", "In the City", and "One Day at a Time". I am a HUGE Joe Walsh and Don Henley fan, so perhaps this review is slightly biased. They only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was some of the songs that Glenn Frey either wrote, co-wrote, or just plain sang too twangy (i.e.- "Peaceful Easy Feeling", "Take It to the Limit", "Lyin' Eyes", "Tequilla Sunrise"). To me, they sound way too similar to one another and far too country bumpkin for my taste. I am however a huge fan of Frey's solo work from the 80's (which was more rock n' roll based). I was glad to see his hit solo song "You Belong to the City" IS included in the band's playlist for this first, and hopefully not the last Farewell tour. If you are a fan of the Eagles, Don Henley or Joe Walsh, then I strongly recommend you check this dvd out. Even new fans of The Eagles, Don or Joe will find something impresive here they like.

I have to say, after Glenn Frey treated Don Felder so abusively (eventually firing him from the band) when Felder suggested a well-deserved salary adjustment, it just sapped all the affection I had for the Eagles. Not sure why. But about this DVD: Were it not for the great Joe Walsh, this concert would be merely garden-variety Eagles music, immaculately played, but without real heart, real mirth, or any life. Without Joe, it would be three guys standing stiffly in a row. Their added brass section does provide spice--their black smocks look interesting. I saw the Eagles in concert in Anaheim, California in 2008, and again I have to say, it was simply boring; and go figure: almost no Walsh pieces were played. It was five guys standing in a row imitating Eagles records. There was no joy in it, no life. Such as in this DVD--except for Walsh. The band would do well to rename: "Joe Walsh and the Eagles." I much prefer "Hell Freezes Over", which beamed with heart, passion, and unpretentious mirth. And Don Felder--before Frey beheaded him. Glenn, maybe simply admit you were wrong and hire Don back, forgetting about the lawsuit, as if there are "no more cloudy days." And heck you guys, dance a little on stage; don't take yourselves so dang seriously.

we saw them in concert and the DVD is as good as being there. It was a Christmas gift for my husband and we played it while we opened presents with our kids (23 and 25) they loved it too

After having seen the Eagles live and in concert, this is a great visual and musical reminder. Great quality sound. Would highly recommend for any Eagles fan.

After reading other sterling reviews here I ordered and eagerly awaited my copy's arrival. I have a very good 5.1 system with a Harman/Kardon SACD player, several good SACD's and other multi-channel recordings, so I was anxious to see how this DVD stacked up. I have the Hell Freezes Over CD which sounds terrific in Pro-Logic II, but DTS is an altogether different experience. All I can say is WOW; this DVD sounds tremendous! The 24-track master recording rendered in DTS is fantastic and the video quality is quite good for 480 resolution. The Eagles' performance is, admittedly, rather laid-back on most tracks, but they do get rocking on some too. Each band member's valuable contribution is apparent and every song is nuanced in rich detail with very good instrument placement among all channels. The Bonus DVD track - in DTS audio only - of Seven Bridges Road is almost reason in itself to get this DVD. The harmony is unreal; each of the five members voices is fixed in one specific 5.1 channel, enveloping the listener with a sense of being in the center of them all. What a great way to showcase your surround system! Do yourself a favor; even if you have and collect SACD's or DVD-Audio as I do, don't pass up this sonic - and historical - masterwork.

This DVD is amazing. It is in good conditions as announced by the seller. The item was shipped to me in Brazil in 15 days. Everything went just fine.

The content, performance and video and audio production values on this DVD are absolutely top notch even though it is in standard 480p. I own more than 50 music DVDs and have previewed many many more. For my generation (Baby Boomers)it does not get better than this!

Without doubt the Eagles are one of the all-time biggest acts in popular music since the dawn of the rock'n'roll era. What an extreme difference between disc one and disc two. Disc one has some of the best Eagles music ever, and that is saying a lot. I love it and listen to it a lot. Totally worth the money, even though for the money you also have to get disc two, which is just awful. I've listened to disc two a few times, the repeat listenings just to see if I was wrong the first time, and if there's anything there I may have missed. The final song "It's your world now" is the best of the lot, but only just OK, a lot like Jackson Browne's "Linda Paloma". The rest is garbage. But, buy the record for the first disc. "I don't want to hear any more" is lovely with wonderful harmonies. "Waiting in the Weeds" is the high point in my opinion, one of the best Eagles songs ever written. If you like the Eagles and don't have this yet, get it for disc one.

Perhaps more than any other single band in rock and roll history, even the Beatles, the Eagles have been through some very cataclysmic changes--not unlike the L.A. landscape that gave them their start and their inspiration. In the 70s, they were both a fans' favorite and a favorite whipping boy for the critics (especially those at Rolling Stone). In 1980, long-simmering dissensions exploded out and caused the group to dissolve (or so drummer and lead vocalist Don Henley thought, when he commented the only way the band would get back together would be "when Hell freezes over."). In 1994-95, hell indeed did freeze over, and the Eagles got back together. But it still took an enormous amount of time before they released another collection of all-new material; and in that time, they canned longtime guitarist Don Felder, who had been with the band since 1974. Finally in 2007, after twenty-eight years, they finally gave us LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN. And much like what had happened with Elvis in 1969, the Eagles each individually had so much they wanted to get out there in front of the public that LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN became a 2-CD, 90-minute epic. Everything the band and its individual members were known for is encompassed here, with Joe Walsh's laconic attitude taking flight on "Guilty Of The Crime" and "Last Good Time In Town"; bassist Timothy Schmit doing his thing on "I Don't Want To Hear Anymore" and "Do Something"; Glenn Frey's emotional heat dominating on "No More Cloudy Days" and "What Do I Do With My Heart?"; and Henley's sociological force being kicked up a notch on the ten-and-a-half minute epic title track, and "Business As Usual." The band does go back into its distant past with "How Long", written by their close compatriot J.D. Souther in 1972, but only ever done onstage by the band up until this point. Longtime session man Steuart Smith steps in for Felder on LONG ROAD; and the band's country-rock roots are also accentuated by the occasional pedal steel work of Greg Leisz, whose credits include, among others, the 1999 Linda Ronstadt/Emmylou Harris collaboration WESTERN WALL. And on the closing "It's Your World Now", the band not only pauses to pass on what they've learned to another generation, but, in its Mariachi-tinged arrangement, they seem to pay homage to Linda and her Mexican-American roots, given that they originally formed around the Arizona-born songstress in 1971. If indeed this 2-CD opus is the absolute final word on this group of Desperados, then it really has been a most interesting, albeit also turbulent, ride. Much like the Beatles and the Beach Boys, the Eagles are a band that has often been duplicated in musical style, but never matched in terms of emotional impact; and LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN may very well seal the deal for keeps now.

i think this album is good just should have cut down the 2 disks to 1.to many boring slow songs.the sound is pretty good for a cd and recorded well but just doesnt have that same sound to me.but all in all some great tunes and glad they made an album.i cant believe it sold 7 million copies so far.

I was happy to get a new copy of an album that was no longer available from the exclusive source (Walmart). This is a new item in an original case. Thank you.

Great album from start to finish. Had a tough time finding this CD in stores...so had to connect with a private seller on the net. Glad I did...would not have wanted to miss this one!

What a long, strange wait it's been. Don Felder has left, a generation has grown into adulthood, and at long last, Eagles return with a new studio album, their first since 1979's The Long Run. Given the interim, though, fans couldn't possibly have asked for more...

The book was a page turner but honestly, I came out of it questioning the author's motive for writing the book. I also felt sorry for Steve Clark's family in that his dirty laundry has now been thrown out there for all the world to see. I really felt like this book was tabloid fodder, and not much about helping people with addictions. There are, however, some great pictures in the book.

I originally bought this book because Lorelei was Steve Clark's (of Def Leppard) girlfriend. Once I got the book though, I became more interested in Lorelei as a person and what she had been thru as a model herself. From her growing up a teen runaway to her finally taking the modelling world by storm, and her rocky relationship with Steve Clark, I thought this book was very informative and I'm really glad I bought it. Lorelei Shellist had a rough beginning but I'm glad to see that she has gotten her life together and I'm even more glad that she was there to help Steve in his daily struggles against his addictions. Thank you, Lorelei, for being an amazing human being.

This ia a great and straight forward book. Thank you, Lorelei for letting us into your world. YOu are a great writer.

I am a huge Def leppard fan which is the reason I bought this book. The author tells all about her life as a high fashion jet settting model who has relationships with rock stars like Don Henley and Steve Clark. She begins her journey at a very young age and always stays very independent and true to herself. She paints a picture of Steve as a shy gifted artist who never understood his own talent and an addiction problem that eventually cost him his life. The book is full of pictures that give a great behind the scenes look at the band. I only wish there was a little more about the other band members and their girfriends but I understand and respect Miss Shellist's desire to protect their privacy.

I picked this book up in the morning and I couldn't put it down until I was completely finished with it that night. It kept me completely enthralled the whole time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to read a real page turner.

This book doesn't faithfully reproduce the music as played by the band. Instead, each song features a chord progression and the lead part simply "tracks" the song's vocals as if your desire was to replace the vocals with guitar (ala Muzak). A complete waste of money and time for any guitarist who is an Eagles fan.
