The Blueprint 3 [Explicit] The Blueprint 3 [Explicit]

Reviews

The King of East Coast Rap does it again as he puts together another incredibly solid album. Chock-full of high profile guest appearances, The Blueprint 3 has a little something for everybody. Kanye West produces seven of the tracks and while his ability as an MC can usually be hit or miss, he shows that he is still one of the top producers in the genre (regardless of his personal penchant for interruption). Young Jeezy's track "Real As It Gets" appeals to the hardcore fans and is one of my favorite tracks on the album. Rihanna and Alicia Keys bring their R&B style and both contribute solid tracks, with Rihanna backing up Jay-Z and Kanye on the self-power anthem of "Run This Town". Alicia Keys sings the chorus on "Empire State of Mind", Jay-Z's love song to New York City which is one of the best tracks on the album. Kid Cudi rounds out the guests by garnering the backpacker/underground crowd on "Already Home". The only weakness of this album is in fact the strength of the guests, as Jay-Z is actually outshined at moments. Though it lacks the vision of some of his earlier releases, The Blueprint 3 shows that he still deserves the respect as a Godfather of rap.

Jay-Z The Blueprint 3 Well Jay-Z was back with the blue print 3 and lets just say that it did not live up to the first blueprint at all. This time around coming off his last album American Gangster which was not a commercial album at all it seemed like Jay-Z wanted to go commercial for this album. The production for this album is very good not on Dr Dre level but its up there but when it comes to lyrics Jay-Z does not stand out on this album like he has other times in his career. In fact there are so many features on this CD which is common in rap today that most of the guest hosts outshine Jay-Z on this CD. Rakown's CD came out the same day as jay-z and while everyone knows Jay-Z would outsell him by 10 X the amount Rakown's album was one of the best quality rap albums of 2009. It was almost like Jay-Z felt his last CD sales were not a good reflection and he felt he had to go back to a commercial album to get more airplay and it did work. Overall this is a mixed bag at the end of the day I am going to go in the middle with 3 stars and a recommendation to download it before you go out and buy it.

CD is awesome, and purchasing and receiving item was extremely efficient and easy. Thansk Amazon!

This is my first Jay- Z cd and I am happy. It makes me want to buy the rest of his cds. Every song is perfect. My favorite: On to the next one, haters, home. Other rappers (except Kanye) need to beware.

You know, the first time it happened, it was actually kind of funny. "Jay-Z" drops new album. Ha, ha, funny ... but I bet you the real Jay-Z is pi$$ed. Couldn't happen again. End of story. Not even close. This is the third time it's happened, and now "Jay-Z" has the audacity to name his "album" after Hova's signature two-fer! The new guy is sounding more and more like he's imitating Eminem instead. I think there's even a country song. I suggest he just change his name to Eminem and let random women punch him in the face. I know he's been busy hanging out with Kofi Anan and visiting catastrophe sites overseas, but don't you think Jay-Z would have heard about what's going on by now, more than six years after he retired? Can't people just let the man live out his twilight years in peace?

The Blueprint The Blueprint

Reviews

I'm still just poking and prodding with rap, and I decided a good next step would be what might be the most acclaimed hip hop album of the last decade. It was released way back on 9/11, the same day when the towers fell. I don't know what it means that one of New York's most prominent rappers released possibly his best album on the same day of the city's worst tragedy, but there's definitely something interesting about it. Unlike using the events of that day to make political points though, The Blueprint still feels relevant nine years later. It helped lead a shift back towards using samples in rap beats, as Jay-Z and the various producers on the album (including Kanye West before he launched his own career) took a lot of 70s R&B and soul, and even a bit of The Doors, and made it sound new, with pretty much every track having its own sound yet a consistent feel with a heavy dose of bass. Some of the vocal samples are pitch-changed, and they're all used to add depth to the sound, and the album never sounds boring. I think Jay-Z is a talented lyricist and a pretty good rapper, but the star of the record for me is definitely the music. I still remember a couple of the album's singles from back when they were playing on MTV, though they're honestly among my least favorite songs. They're not bad, and "Girls, Girls, Girls" redeems itself a bit with the second part crammed onto the end of the twelve minute final track, but most of the other songs just seem to have more heart and more interesting moments. The content of the album is heavily autobiographical as would probably be expected, and also a bit defensive, as he was getting some backlash at the time for being presumptuous about his place in the scene, although he's still very confident in his own greatness. To be honest though, I think the single best verse on the album belongs to Eminem, who collaborates on the track "Renegade" which is apparently a remake of one they did earlier. It's overall an extremely good song, with a beat that's unique to the album and some extraordinary lyrics from both rappers. "Takeover" is another one that sounds a bit different from the rest, and features some pretty brutal disses including two bars at the end that pretty brilliantly wave aside just about everyone. There's plenty of other good songs on the album, and there's not really a point in naming them because it's just such a consistently high quality achievement.

Great CDSi love the package together. it was actually a gift for my husband, he hasn't stopped listening to them

i love these two cds. i already had them but bought them again. blueprint one and two were like the best cds.

This is a review for the Blueprint Collector's Edition! I give it 5 stars even if Blueprint 2 is not a 5 star record. With this collection you get Blueprint 1 and Blueprint two in a nice box with room to put Blueprint 3. The differences? Well Blueprint 1 comes in a regular case, not the blue case it originally came with and the insert is printed on different paper. That is dissapointing, but Blueprint 2 comes in a better case than the original - you get it in a larger Double CD case that is much sturdier and cooler than the original. Overall I recommend it if you need these two CDs.

Jay-Z is the best rapper dead, alive, ever and this cd is the best cd ever made in the hip hop world. I still listen to in and it's 8 years old. This is a must have cd CLASSIC!!!!

The Black Album The Black Album

Reviews

I say itz Jay's best album. The song selcetion is very good and I can listen to the album all day long. It has a grown and sexy feel along with a personal side of him, and a hardcore vibe to the album. Top 5 songs Change Clothes, Allure, Public Service Announcement, December 4th, and Encore.

I have to admit when I first heard this album I was blown away. I still have my same copy with the black disc. I will say that this album is a more commercial version of Reasonable Doubt. Even though it has a more commercial feel to it, its still an excellent album. This was slated to be Jay-Z's last album so I guess he wanted to go out with a bang and The Black Album does just that. It's similar to Reasonable Doubt in that he has some very personal songs on it like December 4th (great song) and Lucifer (a personal favorite of mine). However, it still shows Jay-Z's evolution as a more mainstream rap artist. This could be good or bad depending on what type of hip hop fan you are. Personally, I don't really care for commercial rap artists but I make an exception for Jay-Z. I really didn't know what to expect when I got this album because by the time it came out, Jay-Z had drifted so far from his original sound. It's also similar to Reasonable Doubt in that it is consistent. I didn't need to skip any tracks. I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that Reasonable Doubt was going to be his only "great" album. The rest were hit and miss with a few nice tracks here and there but not classic material. Another good album by Jay-Z was the Blueprint but The Black Album surpasses that one. Yes I said it, The Black Album is better than The Blueprint. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Blueprint too but if you're really honest with yourself you will agree with me. If not we just have to agree to disagree. Either way, The Black Album is the commercial counterpart to the classic Reasonable Doubt and it's worth owning. In my opinion, he should have ended it with this album. The only thee albums necessary to own by Jay-Z are this one, Blueprint and his best album, Reasonable Doubt. The rest were just so so. All in all, The Black Album is not quite a 5 star album (a la Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt and Ready To Die) but it definitely shouldn't get any less than 4 stars. Peace.

I'm not reviewing this album because I never heard it. I do know that I loathe this rapper and all the tadpoles that follow him. If this moron has so much money, then why do I see Bono in Africa helping black people? Why do I see Brad Pitt helping black people in New Orleans? Does Jay-Z like black people? What do you think is more important to Jay-Z, helping poor starving oppressed black people in the world or buying a new Aston Martin? Don't bother answering. We all know the answer. One day black america will wake up....one day.

I don't want to sound like a hater i mean i am giving the album 5 stars but I used to use this album to go to sleep, maybe thats why when i put this in my car I get really drowzy and actually almost fall asleep. You get producers like kanye west who does 2 tracks, the neptunes who also does 2 tracks, timbaland, eminem, dj quick, and some others like rick rubin who did surprise in the production of 99 problems. the album is good, features no one except for pharrel in "change clothes". he should have maybe done a track with beyonce or kanye west or someone else. 1. Interlude N/R 2. December 4th 3/5 kinda corny but not bad 3. What More Can I Say 5/5 hot track. "Im not a biter im a writer, i say a BIG verse im only binging up my brother im big enough to do it." 4. Encore 5/5 another hot track exepct for the long pause in the middle of the track where a guy is urging people to scream HOVA well the song is "ENCORE" but after replaying it.... it gets anoying maybe they should have saved it for the end. 5. Change Clothes 4/5 i don't know why he would choose this song as his 3rd single when there are better choises. 6. Dirt Off Your Shoulder 5/5 2nd single in the album. timbaland gives him a beat that is just bananas. 7. Threat 4/5 funny small skit in the beginnig but dope. 8. Moment Of Clarity 4/5 ahh the eminem produced track good song overall. hot hook going over his albums. 9. 99 Problems 5/5 good single tells a small story in the second verse. 10. Interlude 4/5 hot lil freestyle 11. Justify My Thug 4/5 not bad but not great 12. Lucifer 3/5 really anoying hook imo. 13. Allure 4/5 by this time im usually asleep. so can't talk much about it. 14. My 1st Song 5/5 ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............. awwwhhhh.... lol just kidding. what i can tell you is the alot of rappers hav sampled jay-Z from this album and have created hits. 1 Cassidy- "Im a Hustla" (sampled from the 3rd verse in "Dirt Off Your Shoulder") 2 T.I.- "Bring Em' Out" (sampled from the 1st verse in "What More Can I Say") 3. Juvenile- "Way I Be Leaning" (This guy choped and screwed jay's voice for the song so it would sound more southern but I know tthe rhyme is from the second verse of "Dirt of your shoulder") Im sure there is more but i can't remember now. aight 1.

At first I wasn't feeling this CD so much but after 4-5 spins I realized this was a really nice album. IMO it's behind Blueprint, Vol. 1, and Vol. 2 for the best Jay-z albums. Alot of people don't agree with me on Vol. 1 but it was a great CD(besides "I Know What Girls Want" & "Sunshine") It was before he went materialistic and commercial.

Average Rating:

If The Black Album is truly Jay-Z's last statement before retirement, he at least goes out near the top of his game. While it probably won't be remembered as his best album, The Black Album is his most personal to date and features some of his most compelling writing...

Three Days of the Condor [VHS] Three Days of the Condor [VHS]

Reviews

This movie reminds me of the movie "A Beautiful Mind" and a dozen other movies which tantalize the imagination with "big brother' themes. From mathematicians who believe the entire universe can be described using the magic of numbers to religious adherents who see ancient encrypted codes governing the secrets of mankind "Three days of the Condor" is one of many movies trying to explain that which baffles most people's minds. We drudge the ocean floor seeking rare pearls hidden in the mouths of otherwise practically worthless bivalves and pan for gold in the muddy waters of practically inaccessible waterways and get the notion that what is valuable in life is that which is obscured from normal view. Words and numbers have different meanings to different people and for those seeking secrets hidden in their perceptions of the symbols of the world around us will love this movie

Recently watched this film again, decades after its release...and was quite pleased. Its interesting to compare this movie's mystery, action and suspense to present day thrillers! Blue work shirts and jeans---simple and sexy, worn very well by Redford, the cars, bikes, computers---fashion and background are nostalgic and fun! Redford's haircut is still better than John Edwards and I don't believe he paid the equivalent of $400--the Male Farrah Fawcett with his blond, feathered locks. Aside from sentiment and looks, the movie definitely shines, and you are rooting for the hero throughout. Quite enjoyable to realize that OIL, politics and power were entangled and continue to be; often the driving force behind present day suspense....

Other than Jerimiah Johnson, this rates as my favorite Robert Redford movie. It features solid acting, a captivating story line, and excellent editing. I am surprised that, in the day of re-makes, this has not been redone. The focus on Middle Eastern oil fits well into current political scenarios as well.

Joe Turner (Robert Redford) works in New York at the "Historical Society", which is the front for a CIA operation that reviews all literature, books, magazines, etc. from all over the world for possible plots and schemes. All ideas are fed into a computer that compares with CIA plots and international issues and threats. Joe is just a researcher, not a CIA Agent, but learns a lot about espionage, just reading books and other materials through his job. Joe is late to work one rainy day in December and his boss corners him to let him know that a letter he sent the Langley CIA office was dismissed. Joe folds up the letter and puts it in his pants pocket to deal with later. His letter noted a realization that strong relationships were developing between Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and other oil producing countries and thought it was worth the CIA's effort to look into it. We meet all of Joe's co-workers - 6 of them besides Joe. He starts his work and feeds pertinent information into the computer. Around 11:30 he is the designated person to do the lunch run to the Deli a block away. He ducks out a back entrance to avoid much of the rainy areas. While he is gone, the mailman is rung in the front door security. Other men come with him as they tear up the security tapes. Everyone in the office is killed within minutes and the killers leave. When Joe returns he finds the front door open and his co-workers shot. He soon realizes this is a hit and takes the receptionist's gun to protect himself as he runs to a phone booth to call the main CIA office. His CIA code name is Condor - and he calls to give his section chief the information of the hit. He is told not to hang up the phone and to call again in two hours. The CIA "clean-up" team arrives within minutes to clear the carnage. They verify the killings to the main office. The New York section chief is stunned and wants to know why a research office would be gunned down. He calls his supervisor at CIA Headquarters. Joe in the meantime is totally paranoid and dodges and hides until he is to be brought "in from the cold" - but realizes a set up in a back alley is meant to kill him. The agents he was to meet are an old friend (he trusts) and another CIA department head. He realizes his own department head is trying to kill him and shoots him with the gun he picked up. The Department head then shoots the other unknowing agent (a friend that Joe trusted). Now Joe feels he can trust no one. He is desperate and kidnaps a woman that he saw in a clothing store, Kathy (Faye Dunaway). They drive to her apartment and she lets him hide there, although he uses the gun to scare her. He just needs time to figure out what to do next. The plot thickens and the action escalates. There are exciting twists and turns. Eventually Joe has his revenge. A very rewarding spy movie! The other interesting notes on this movie is the technology 35 years ago. The computers and phone systems are archaic, but did not detract from the plot. Also the world issues on oil needs of the U.S. seem to always be in the news.

A wonderful crafted suspense tale which holds you until the last frame. Redford at his best in a drama guaranteed not to bore for a simgle moment. Also, a thinking person's flick. You watch the first ten minutes and bet you can't tear yourself away.

Rounders (1998) [VHS] Rounders (1998) [VHS]

Reviews

You don't have to be a poker fan to appreciate Rounders, although it is one of the movies that seemingly put the game and ESPN's coverage of it on the map. I watched this movie years ago when it first came out, and thought it was one of those hidden great films of the 90s. For some reason the scenes with John Malkovich as the Russian mafia poker player stuck with me, although there is much more to the film. In the film, Mike (Matt Damon) experiences a conflict early on when his life-long friend, Worm (Ed Norton), gets out of jail. Worm, a bit of a loose cannon, is as much into gambling as Mike, and has accumulated a huge debt that he owes the Russian Mafia. This compels Mike to get back "in the game" of poker, gambling and high stakes. Mike, who is studying law with his girlfriend (Gretchen Mol), comes under scrutiny from her as his old ways surface. Although he is trying to drive straight and not pick up the game, there is a part of him that longs to get back to the excitement of it. Once he gets a taste of the game and the high stakes, it is hard to go back, and he and Worm dive full force into it. However, this puts a strain on his relationship with his girlfriend. While Mike loves the game, he is conflicted at many points. Worm's recklessness gets them into hot water with KGG (John Malkovich), and before he can truly choose between poker and his girlfriend, he is neck deep in trouble with his life. Rounders becomes as much of a movie about loyalty as poker, and Mike has to decide what price he puts on his friendship. Damon and Norton drive home solid performances in this one. There's a good camaraderie between them, and they really do a great job of taking the audience into the world of Texas Hold em. There's also an effective job of making the games suspenseful and dramatic. There's a great scene towards the end between Damon and Malkovich as they match wits. Damon's character also narrates the story as it unfolds. Overall, Rounders is a great film with expert direction and acting. Definitely recommended!

Not much else to add to the accolades - this being one of my all time favorite films. Razor-sharp dialogues, uniformly great performances by the cast, and understated direction from John Dahl that works perfectly for the film. It's one of those movies that you end up watching again and again just for the sheer pleasure of it if you understand and perhaps even embrace its ethos.

I love this movie, it was one of my old favorites and a "must have" for my dvd collection. Those of you who are Matt Damon and Ed Norton fans will love this movie!

Rounders is by far the best movie about No Limit Texas Holdem ever made and will probably retain that title forever...Unless they make a Rounders II and have the EXACT same characters. This movie stars Matt Damon and Edward Norton supported by John Malkovich, John Turturro & Marin Landau and all together ALL STAR cast. Ed Norton (Worm) is a degenerate who goes to jail for fraud and Matt Damon (Mike) is his straight and narrow friend who is always there for him until Worm puts him about 30K in the hole. This movie is good because it is not 100% about poker or 100% about other garbage but rather a perfect blend.

my husband has been wanting this movie for a lomg time one day I thought amazon.com has everything i'll check I found it ordered it and loved watching it with my husband well worth the wait!

Average Rating:

A little drunk on its own arcane exotica as a gambling movie, Rounders is a film that takes us inside a world of high-stakes card players but falls short on such essentials as character development, relationships, that sort of thing...

I love Beanie Sigel. He is the most underrated rapper out of Rocafella Records but this movie stunk like roadkill. Beanie plays a bully who runs around with a group of thugs that beat up on people in their hometown and issue them a warning that goes "get down or lay down"! The main flaw of the movie is that nobody can act. Beanie is so laughable in his role that sometimes I crack up when he comes on screen. He is not the only one who should stick to rapping. Memphis Bleek's character was a riot for all the wrong reasons(when he shot a Beanie's car for honking the horn at him, I laughed so hard that I peed a little. Damon Dash and Jay-z are stiff as mannequins in this movie also. You cant tell that the director knew that this film was rank and told them to keep going anyway. The funniest part is when Beanie's lawyers tell him to cop a plea for a guy he just shot. Lol! His reaction was a hoot! In short this is a bad movie simple and plain. If you want to watch it to see how bad it is then fine. But you were warned.

this is a classic gangster movie already, anyone whos into the whole block scene should add this to their collection.

MAN HOLD UP this movie was f#cc%n gangsta 5 muthaf#cc%n stars those who apose can either get down or lay down and if you lay down you gon stay down jay-z should of had a bigga part

I watched ten minutes of Beanie Seagal trying to act and turned my DVD player off to read a book. I had to. I felt like I was getting dumber by the minute for watching that short segment of the movie. It looked so common I didn't even need to see the rest to tell you the end. I'm willing to bet some people got shot, somebody got away with the crime, the police arrested Beanie, and somebody's mother was yelling at somebody. I don't even care if I'm right or wrong because regardless, I'm not gonna finish watching this movie.

This is a terrible movie that I gave 1 star because I couldn't give any fewer. It features the usual idols given primarily to the black youth of today, hip hoppers playing gangstas who have no respect for anything or anyone other than money. It is another one of those blaxploitation specials in which there is literally no figure of any redeeming value. This explains the almost endless series of beatings, shootings, and overall ignorance portrayed in sequence, and served up as some sort of story. It's only entertainment they say, but they are typecast without even knowing it, foolishly dying to portray a fantasy image...psychologically bound as tight as any slave was ever shackeled.

Love and Basketball (New Line Platinum Series) Love and Basketball (New Line Platinum Series)

Reviews

It's a true statement that there are a lot of these kinds of love stories out there. This brand of movie is made almost every week, but there are few films that (for me at least) are able to transcend their own genre as well as `Love & Basketball'. Sure, there are avenues of this film that don't sit as well with me as others, but the bulk of this film is fantastic, and Sanaa Lathan's performance alone is well worth the price of admission. Monica and Quincy grew up as neighbors. They have always had one of those quarreling sibling relationships, mostly due to their common interest; basketball. Quincy's father was a pro-ball player, and so his future seems predestined, while Monica's drive and dedication make her a better player, and an unlikely rival. As they grow up they stay friends, even if they are constantly at odds, until they realize that they are less like siblings and more like lovers. Basketball continues to divide them, as they split their focus and find that it is conquering them instead of them conquering it. While much of the storyline feels rather `familiar', there is something special about this film. For me, it is undeniably Sanaa Lathan. This girl is amazing, and this film marked the start of my personal love affair with her. She is not only physically stunning, but her talent as an actress is undeniable here. She is flawless as she balances Monica's life goals with her actual life, never taking away from her pained curiosity or her hearty dedication. The prom scene is especially memorable as her jealousies and insecurities are made subtly obvious. Her on-court scenes are filled with an intensity that only comes from a complete adoration of the game, and the strife she endures at the hands of her oppressive (albeit loving) mother is completely believable thanks to Lathan's remarkable understanding of her character. Oscar, you should be ashamed! I'm less impressed with Omar Epps, but he has never really been anything more than a pretty face to me. I haven't really seen his talent but I understand why my sisters love him. He has a genuine quality in scenes, but mostly he seems to be playing a character instead of playing a person (if that makes sense to you). A few `clichés' aside, `Love & Basketball' is an extremely good film that feels fresh and exciting and beautifully balances out the many aspects of the film that make it so wonderful. The script is rich enough (despite some generic relationship issues) to allow us to really get to know Monica and Quincy, on and off the court. Between their love life, home life and work life, `Love & Basketball' understands how to give each side of these characters a life all its own. Yes, the film is far more concerned with Monica than Quincy, and it shows, but that doesn't mean that Quincy's character becomes a stock character. This may be Monica's story, but Quincy is a BIG part of it. Take it from someone who is not a fan of sports or really of sports based movies; this is a movie you really need to see!

Eleven-year-old Quincy doesn't know what to make of Monica, a girl who can outplay any of the guys on the neighborhood basketball court. Soon he is infatuated with her and, much to his surprise, she is eager to become closer to him. Best friends all throughout the following school years, the pressure for each to be recruited by college basketball coaches brings them closer together and their love blooms beyond friendship. This movie shows the real love of basketball. Basketball is more than a sport and you could see that with this movie. This movie displays the hardships of becoming a basketball pro such as losing friends and lovers.

I ordered the Love & Basketball DVD from iNetVideo. The first new DVD I received was lose in the DVD case and got scratched during shipping. I emailed them and they mailed another new one to me asap. That's awesome customer service and I will do business with this company again.

The movie came in brand new with no scratches or anything but the dvd box did have a crack on the side but it was nothing serious.

Item was received quickly. It was in great condition. Bought it for my son, no complaints.
