I Dreamed A DreamReviewsAlong with everyone else who purchases Susan's CD, I fell in love with her voice from the youtube videos. However, the songs on this CD do not seem to fit her voice. There are several jazz songs and most of the songs in general do not demand the power she is so capable of delivering. I hope she will do another CD with songs that match her talent. After all the hoopla surrounding Susan Boyle's appearance on television and her subsequent dustup with the media, it was nice to here a woman with a mature voice singing an eclectic mix of music that SHE likes. A very pleasant listening experience. We loved this CD. The quality of the sound is excellent. The selection of the songs is very nice and Susan Boyle is a great singer. This is much better than I expected. Good job. Susan has the voice of an angel. Her voice is so clear and pure, she has a great gift. The Album has a nice mix of songs and she sings them all so beautifully. What more can I say, other than she is dearly loved by her many, many fans. We are all looking forward to a second CD. I loved seeing her audition on BGT. What a fantastic voice. I could hardly wait to get her first CD. It did not disappoint me. There is quite the variety of songs from a number by the Rolling Stones to Amazing Grace to Silent Night to Les Miserables. I loved every song. I also loved the choir that accompanies her on several of the numbers. One of my favorites on this CD is Who I was Born to be. I have given four of her albums for gifts and the recipients have been pleased. The one gal told me she has played it over and over again. I highly recommend this album. Average Rating:![]() |

Amateur vocalist susan boyle became an overnight sensation after appearing on the first round of 2009's popular u.k. reality show britain's got talent. Boyle, who was born in blackburn, west lothian, scotland in 1961, caught the judges (and the world) off guard with her masterful rendition of 'i dreamed a dream' from the musical les mis, rables, due in part to the unemployed and undeniably plain church volunteer's 'salt of the earth' demeanor and country spinster backstory... |

Trainspotting - Director's Cut (Collector's Edition)ReviewsWhile a gross-out scene may be the most memorable part of this film, it does paint a pretty realistic portrait of highly disorganized young heroin addicts. I've known a lot of heroin addicts in the course of my career (none in Scotland, however) and only a few of them were as far gone in their addiction as the young characters of this movie. While most make some very bad choices on a regular basis, few would go as far as this film suggests. Danny Boyle's Trainspotting is a film that has left me perplexed ever since the first time I viewed it as a teenager nearly a decade ago. I remember, as I finished the film, thoroughly hating it. There was something about its subject matter and characters that I immediately found off putting. It wasn't until my third or fourth viewing of the picture that I really understood what Boyle was going for. It's supposed to be off putting and the characters are supposed to be unlikable. The film shows just how much of an impact heroin can have on a young individual's life. It destroys it to the point where heroin because the only that the really matters. For these young drug addicts, the only thing that gets them through the day is the anticipation of the next hit. By using over-the-top visuals (the sequence with the dead infant in the crib is one that I won't be able to shake for sometime) and a rapid MTV music video style editing, Boyle makes the film visually fascinating while showing the truth behind the life of the average drug addict. If I have a problem with the film it's that it really doesn't go far enough. Less quick cutting and hyper stylized editing and more human characters would have made the film deeper and more palatable. But, maybe that wasn't what Boyle was going for. With his use of editing, he shows just how much can be lost when one is stuck in the sad world of drug addiction. That, in and of itself, makes the film something special. The film is gritty and dark, both qualities that are rarely seen in Hollywood movies today. I still think the ending doesn't work as well as it should as it feels a bit too upbeat but that's a minor quibble of an otherwise fine film. "Trainspotting"(1996) is directed by Danny Boyle (Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire). The film follows the lives of various friends who are all trapped in the world of drugs abuse. The film is hilariously conceived with the friends showing the degrees to which they are willing to go in order to support their addictions. Hallucinations abound with Mark (Ewan McGregor) diving into toilets for his stash, or seeing babies crawling on ceilings. Even though the film is generally very upbeat, and frenetic, there is always lurking around the corner the dark side of these individuals lives. This particular blu-ray is a bit disappointing, if only because it is barebones. There are zero special features, and the film has not been remastered. Even though the blu-ray image quality is sharper than the DVD there really isn't a big improvement over the DVD version in this case. This dark comedy ranks as one of the great films of the '90s. The acting is good, the story is highly engaging, and the take on life it offers is definitely a reflection of the modern world, albeit a dark one. This Blu-ray release, is not worth buying. The detail is subtly increased, but overall, but that is about it. The colors fail to pop, the transfer is flat. It fails to really stand out like it could. The worst part about this release though- no extras- none at all. They failed to include anything. The one and only option you get is French or English audio. Period. It doesn't even have a menu- the movie auto plays. If you are buying this movie on Blu-ray, understand what you're getting, slightly better detail, thats it. Hope for a better release. With its hallucinatory visions of crawling dead babies and a grungy plunge into the filthiest toilet in Scotland, you might not think Trainspotting could have been one of the best movies of 1996, but Danny Boyle's film about unrepentant heroin addicts in Edinburgh is all that and more... |

When she appeared on the Britain's Got Talent stage for the first time, the audience and the judges appeared apprehensive and judgmental of her frumpy appearance.[6] Upon finishing her song, she received a standing ovation from the live audience and unanimous praise from the judges. Simon Cowell is reported to be setting up a contract with Boyle with his Syco Music company label, a subsidiary of Sony Music.
The contrast between the audience's first impression of her when she appeared on stage compared to the ovation she received afterwards triggered global interest. Articles about her appeared in newspapers worldwide, while the numbers who watched videos of her audition have set an online record. Within nine days of her televised debut, videos of her audition, subsequent interviews of her, and her 1999 rendition of "Cry Me a River" had been viewed a combined total of over 100 million times on the Internet
