The Beatles

The Beatles were a rock and pop group formed in Liverpool, England in 1960 who became one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music. During their years of stardom, the band consisted of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar, piano, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals). Although their initial musical style was rooted in 1950s rock and roll and skiffle, the group worked with different musical genres, ranging from Tin Pan Alley to psychedelic rock. Their clothes, style and statements made them trend-setters, while their growing social awareness saw their influence extend into the social and cultural revolutions of the 1960s.

The Beatles Entertainment Poster Print, 24x36ReviewsI received this poster in bad condition. When I got it, the package was dented and the poster was wrinkled and torn. product was as advertised, shipping was not. Ordered the product on 01/28/09. Received an e-mail on 02/04/09 from MovieGoods, Inc that the poster was being shipped. On 02/17/09 I received another e-mail from them saying that the product was being shipped. Finally received it on 02/24/10 to find out that it shipped from Las Vegas which is a 5 hour drive from home - but it took 28 days from the date I ordered. I will not order anything from them again that I need within a reasonable time frame. This was for a birthday present and was needed by 02/15/09 - didn't think it was unreasonable to expect it by then. Products ordered from other vendors on the same day were received in plenty of time. Love the poster. The wrong poster was sent the first time, but the seller sent out the correct one very quickly once it was brought to their attention. The posters (both) were in great condition and packaged well. Looks cool in my son's room. Average Rating:![]() |

The Beatles- Yellow Submarine Entertainment Poster Print, 24x36ReviewsI am a major Beatles fan, and so when my 6 year old daughter showed an interest in their music, I did not expect her to become a big Beatles fan herself. She loves YELLOW SUBMARINE! This movie came out in the late '60's but animation techniques were far ahead of their time, something that today's kids would have no problem enjoying. And the storyline and characters are very edgy, again, making it contemporary. The music is excellent Beatles songs, mostly from Sgt. Pepper and Revolver. The songs are like little animated videos, and work as standalone pieces as well as part of the story. I highly recommend you purchase this movie. We have seen it no less than 20 times in the past few months...it never gets old...lots of animation details and mixed media. 5 Stars! Average Rating:![]() |

The Beatles - Abbey Road Poster Print, 34x23ReviewsI ordered a 2 of these posters, one for my room at home and for my college dorm room. Both arrived in good condition a week after placing the order. This is probably one of the most iconic album covers in music history and you can be sure any Beatles fan will love it. Interesting history behind it: the disc was originally planned to be called Everest, borrowed from engineer Geoff Emerick's brand of cigarettes, and the cover would show The Beatles at Mount Everest. Staging the cover would be too difficult, so during and early lunch the four left the studio with photographer Iain Macmillan, and crossed the street. They ended up with this perfectly simple photo. the poster came in about a week, but when i got it there was a crease going up and down the right side but other than that it was ok I bought this poster, SUPER CHEAP=] and it was a gift for my Beatles obsessed boyfriend. He had wanted this for quite a while and just could not seem to find it in stores or online for a decent price. Well, when he got this in the mail, A DAY EARLIER THAN EXPECTED=]]], he was thrilled and immediately put it up on his wall. I am overjoyed about this, just by seeing how much he loved the gift. Thanks a bunch! I bought the Abbey Road poster for real cheap. It came in the mail within a few days, and it's on my wall right now. Great service and great product!! You get what you see. If you like this poster, you will undoubtedly enjoy it on your wall and fondly gaze at it's simple elegance and irrefutable quality and awesomeness. If not, why would you even look at it in the first place? Buy it! Average Rating:![]() |

The Beatles Stereo Box SetReviewsArrived on time and in mint condition. Just does not get any better than this for true Beatles fans. I was waiting for something like this for years. I only regret that they broke up the Beatles 6 album. This Beatles box set is the best they ever produced and when looking allways look for master recordings ,these went one step further using the Superb Prism electronics and taking 2 years to put modern technology to work not to change anything but preserve the original recordings by just removing any pops or clicks and background noise ,excellent work.!!The Beatles Stereo Box Set I couldn't be happier with this product. The packaging is nice, the product itself is even better, and thanks to Amazon I got free super-saver shipping. The sound quality of these CDs is great, and the artwork and inserts that accompany each album are very well done. The mini-documentary disc is nothing special, but that's not the reason anyone's buying this collection anyway. If you're a Beatles fan who's on the fence about buying this collection, buy it. You won't be disappointed. I was hesitant to repurchase a few of the CDs I had already owned (in the 1987 CD format), but was glad to hear significant improvements in the newly remastered versions. To put it simply, this is the way the Beatles were meant to be heard. If you love The Beatles, you will love this box set. Item as described and shipped promptly. Thank you for a great transaction! The set was well worth it! Average Rating:![]() |

Abbey Road (Remastered)ReviewsThis album is simply the best album ever made by the best rock band of all time. A glorious sunset. The music is wonderful BUT the sound quality is crap - it is thin and harsh. I have other CDs recorded in analog and remastered to CD that are vastly superior to this. I do not have the original record so I cannot guess as to whether the original recording was this bad. This was a great disappointment to me - I was so looking forward to hearing these songs in sonic splendour. abbeyroad is another great beatles cd for your collection .get them all .buy the box set Without a doubt, this is the best The beatles ever sounded. The songs were expertly crafted, the band sounded fantastic and that cover... All together this could make for the perfect beatles album. if you don't own this, why? Amongst 13 of Beatles' output, I considered 'Abbey Road' (1969) as the best album they had made. I knew this album since my early childhood my dad had bought the cassette of it. It contained best effort of the Fab-Four's musicality and artistry, especially George Harrison's 'Something'. This is the main reason why I bought this album. This music of this album are were very advanced to its released date, and its influence is still remaining until now to the world's pop and rock music. So be it, this recording is very highly recommended to be purchased. Thanks also to amazon.com for quickly shipment to Indonesia. Average Rating:![]() |

The White Album (Remastered)ReviewsThe music is wonderful BUT the sound quality is crap - it is thin and harsh. I have other CDs recorded in analog and remastered to CD that are vastly superior to this. I do not have the original record so I cannot guess as to whether the original recording was this bad. This was a great disappointment to me - I was so looking forward to hearing these songs in sonic splendour. I've read many of the reviews of this album, cd, whatever, and I can't help but feel intensly disappointed by the 2010 perspective of this incredible work. You have no idea what the hell you're talking about unless you were there, in 1968, living this whole maelstrom. The draft, Viet Nam, civil rights, assassination, a very real and imminent nuclear threat, Cold War, Red Chinas' Cultural Revolution. It was a mess something of the order we're experiencing in the scope of this economic depression and all this context seems lost through time. The Beatles were the home base. They represented a sense of comfort and even clarity in a time when there wasn't much around. As confused as this album may sound to you, there was something there for everybody and everybody I know has a different favorite from this release. In that sense, it's a masterpiece. I mean, who loves everything Mozart wrote? Mozart operas are pompous, complex, emotional roller coasters, much like the White Album. It reverberated with uncertain direction and accurately reflected it's time in history extremely well. If you were only going to have one album of the Beatles this is the one to have. Wish I still had my vinyl. Not a big fan of remastering I'm still pickled pink when I listen to it. Oh the memories The Beatles albums "Sgt Pepper's" and "Magical Mystery Tour" were recorded c. 1967, a period of optimism and good humour in the band. After this material was taped, the Beatles went off to India to experience the inspiration of the Maharishi. Unfortunately, the disappointment and disillusionment they experienced in India, and the simultaneous commencement of tensions within the band, ended the "optimistic/psychedelic" feel of 1967. This has two major effects on the White Album. First, many interesting tunes that were more in the Pepper style were suppressed and not put into the White Album. Thus, Lennon (who was the most disillusioned member of the Beatles) suppressed two masterpieces that were in a mystical/psychedelic vein, "Child of Nature" and "Across the Universe". The latter was eventually released as part of an album; the former was never released by the Beatles. Other snippets from India, like "Mean Mr Mustard/Polythene Pam" and "Because" were temporarily suppressed and passed on into later albums. The second effect is that the Beatles began to record tunes that were in a quite different tone from their previous two albums. A lot of these tunes were sarcastic, cynical or satirical in tone. I don't particularly like this direction the Beatles were taking. They always sounded so unique; why did they have to write such a huge amount of material basically sending people up? The "sarcastic" tunes include: "Back in the USSR" (parody of the Beach Boys), "Glass Onion" (parody of the Beatles!), "Piggies" (a really crass satire of rich people), "Rocky Racoon" (parody of Dylan), "Sexy Sadie" (disguised attack on the Maharishi), "Yer Blues" (parody of British blues), and "Good Night" (parody of Broadway). Now I happen to like Glass Onion/Sexy Sadie and most of these tunes are very good pieces of music. And I know the Beatles did a great deal of parody in other albums. However, I find something nasty and not-very-upfront about this album, so different from the earnestness of the usual Beatles fare. Another problem I have is the effect of Paul's insistence that the Beatles should become a touring band again and should therefore restore their style to a more plain rock sound. That means that "White Album" has a minimum of in-your-face tape manipulation, studio trickery or weird electronic stuff. Another effect is that the Beatles sound is now more clashy and rock-y. Tunes affected by this (as it turns out truncated) change in direction include "Back in the USSR", "Yer Blues" and "Helter Skelter". Some rock fans applaud the more rocklike sound of this album (and "Let It Be"); I again miss the more weirdo sounds of 1967. Having said all that, I do in fact like this album, mostly. My favourite Beatles track of all is "Happiness is a Warm Gun", a truly trippy song that consists of a medley of four apparently unrelated melodies that nevertheless seem absolutely inseperable and of one piece. (And I know it parodies doo-wop, ha ha). I also love the misterioso bassline in "Dear Prudence", George Harrison's ode to disillusioned love in "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", the charming "I Will", and the nicely done "Savoy Truffle". I'm even not entirely opposed to "Revolution 9", it has atmosphere. I just wish the White Album could have avoided the cynical edge they had adopted since returning from India. Luckily they pretty much worked off this tendency by the next albums, though by that time the Beatles were a doomed "marriage". This CD is amazing, it has all of the songs just like before, and its even remastered. For those of you who don't know what remastered is its just enhanced, the old quality is no more now it sounds like there really in front of you singing. I highly recommend this product and the price was amazing too. If you don't believe me try it out your self. Average Rating:![]() |

Yellow Submarine [VHS]ReviewsEven though I don't like this movie quite as much as "The Adventures of Mark Twain," it's without question a mind-blowing experience. The stills at the end may be the best use of imagery I've ever seen in a visual presentation. I'm sure we can thank Heinz Edelmann for that. The rest of the movie is almost as incredible, and my only complaint is the sequences with the meanies at the end seem to drag out too long. One would think that once the Beatles reach Pepperland, there's not much movie left. It's sort of the same feeling I had when I read Homer's "The Odyssey." The animation isn't even as close to being as smooth as Disney's, but the wide variety of color displayed is beyond belief. The surreal imagery doesn't disappoint even those with high imaginative expectations, and the fun use of non-sensical dialgoue adds even more to the imagery. The little Jeremy fellow looks like he walked right off one of the pages of "The Phantom Tollbooth." Although I was let down by the "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" musical montage after being wowed by the other montages, they do a pretty good job of treating the eye as well as the ear. Some I've watched over and over. A must for anyone who is really into fantasy. Yellow Submarine is a minor classic of the psychedelic sixties when peace, love and happiness ruled the day. The animated film was a way for the Beatles to get out of making a third live action film and for all its campy dreaminess is still fun to watch. Pepperland has been invaded by the music hating Blue Meanies and it is up to the Fab Four to save the day and restore happiness to Pepperland. Musically the film provides some of the groups best work and the remastered 5.1 sound brings out the songs wonderfully along with a great score by George Martin that was lost in its original mono release. The animation is some of the best non Disney work out there. There are more animation styles on display than in any other film i've seen except possible Fantasia. The work is vibrant, colorful and a joy to watch. The film is a fun 90 minute time capsule that should not be missed by any lover of the Beatles or of animation. The standard definition disc presents the film along with a commentary by line producer John Coates, an isolated soundtrack, some interviews with key filmakers and loads of still and storyboard galleries. I didn't expect this item to come this fast! I was very pleased with the product and it was exactly what I asked for! Thanks! DO NOT buy yellow submarine from a seller called Jean's Records. The version of the yellow submarine I was looking for was not right and I wanted to cancel my order from this person but got no emails after I tried several times to contact the seller. My order was canceled by amazon but NO REFUND!!! although their feedback looks good don't be fooled. Jean's records dose not communicate with customers or offer refunds Even though this animation has the Beatles' songs in it, the voices of John, Paul, George and Ringo are those of actors, not the Beatles. That was a disappointment when I found it out, but it's still a good film. Average Rating:![]() |

This restored, animated valentine to the Beatles offers viewers the rare chance to see a work that's been substantially improved by its technical facelift, not just supersized with extra footage. Recognizing that its song-studded soundtrack alone makes Yellow Submarine a video annuity, United Artists has lavished a frame-by-frame refurbishment of the original feature, while replacing its original monaural audio tracks with a meticulously reconstructed stereo mix that actually refines legendary original album versions... |

The Compleat Beatles [VHS]ReviewsI love this film. While it may not be the most exhaustive Beatles bio it is the definitive Beatles bio. Release it on DVD!! Well, it's about the Beatles, first off - so it's automatically pretty great! Was a good, informative, entertaining look at the life and times of the greatest band of all time! Made me remember many things I'd forgotten, and told me a few I'm not sure I ever really knew enough about. Only complaint I can think of is that it wasn't like, 10 hours long!! In June 1986 when I was 15 years old,USA network aired The Compleat Beatles (albiet truncated).Although only having limited knowledge of the group,I taped it, and played it nonstop, ending the year recieving for Christmas"The Beatles Collection" containing their albums in their original UK pressings(on Vinyl and before the first CD releases). Nearly a quarter of a century later, and the longer more comprehensive Beatles Anthology (1995)being the superior successor,"Compleat" is still essential, especially for those who want a speedier trip through the history of the Beatles. Even without the group being interviewed,Producer George Martin gives an insightful look at the group and how they evolved from Moptops to the great artist we know and love today. Unfortunately out of print and never seen a DVD release, despite being an essential look at the history of the greatest group ever, especially for the short attention spanned Every true Beatle fan should own a copy and youngsters who want to know what all the hubbub was about will benefit too. Insightful interviews with George Martin. I'm so grateful to Amazon for carrying this VHS tape. Paul B., CT. Product arrived in fine shape and am very pleased with it. Also good customer service from seller! Average Rating:![]() |

The Beatles - Help! [VHS]ReviewsI ordered the DVD Beatles "Help" -Used from Amazon.com. The package came in a timely manner. And the product was in great condition when I received it. Will use Amazon again in the future. This was my first time using Amazon.com for purchasing DVD's. If you love The Beatles, you'll love the movie. When I watch this movie (again), I remember how I loved the Beatles in the 60's. The plot is inane, the music is classic Beatles, and the Beatles play themselves. Leo McKern (later Rumpole of the Bailey) was hilarious in this film. When my grandchildren, who are ages 6 and 9 come for an overnight stay, they love to watch this movie with me. The 9 year old is now a true Beatles fan - the 3rd generation! Watch this movie again just for fun and remember the good times in the 60's. Great fun! I was amazed at how good the quality was on such an old film. Do you remember the thrill of going to see the Beatles in Help? If you want to revisit your youth, or share the Beatlemania with the younger generation, this movie is for you. It is obvious the "fab four" had a fun time making this movie. Instead of complaining about the lack of Oscar winning drama they perform around some of the best music history or today has to offer. My granddaughter is a Beatles fan and has now watched this movie several times. It is a quality reproduction that is a nice break from the day to day stress. Light and breezy, full of some favorite tunes. Highly recommend. I had completely forgotten how much I loved this movie - it is so incredibly quirky!! My 11 year old son is now into the Beatles thanks to Beatles Rock Band so I got it for him....& he has watched it a dozen or so times cracking up each time. Seriously a true classic! After the worldwide success of A Hard Day's Night, the Beatles and director Richard Lester reunited for a follow-up film, Eight Arms to Hold You. Well, that wasn't the final title; a pleading Lennon-McCartney tune provided the catchier handle: Help! A loose semispoof of the globe-trotting James Bond pictures, Help! has always been considered a somewhat disorganized comedown from its predecessor; but it presents "the famous Beatles" even more clearly as the English cousins of the Marx Brothers... |

The Beatles - Yellow Submarine Motion Lamp |
Returning to Liverpool following periods of Hamburg residency during 1960, 1961 and 1962, the group appointed Brian Epstein manager, and he negotiated a record contract with EMI's George Martin; Epstein would manage the band until his death in 1967, and Martin produced all but one of the group's studio albums. The single "Please Please Me" achieved UK chart success in late 1962. The group attracted fervent interest, termed "Beatlemania", during tours of the UK and Europe throughout the next year. "I Want to Hold Your Hand" found U.S. chart success at the close of 1963, spearheading the group's international popularity, and they toured the U.S. and other countries over the next three years. During this period, Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr were each honoured with an MBE. In 1966 the group found themselves mired in controversy, including widespread antipathy in the U.S. after a magazine published a quote from Lennon's remarks on Christianity. They ceased to perform commercial concerts after the 1966 U.S. tour, concentrating instead on studio work and enjoying continued international chart success. In 1967 the group met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who introduced them to Transcendental Meditation. The same year, Epstein died from an overdose of a prescription drug. The group spent time in India, treating the Maharishi as their guru for a short time, but became disillusioned with him. Increasingly dominated by conflict, and further alienated from one another by a disagreement about the appointment of a new financial adviser, the group disintegrated in 1970. All four members embarked upon successful solo careers.
The Beatles sold between 600 million and one billion records internationally. In the United Kingdom they released more than 40 different singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one, earning more number one albums (15) than any other group in UK chart history. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, they have sold more albums in the United States than any other artist. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked them number one in its list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, and four of their albums appeared in the top ten of the magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list. According to that same magazine, The Beatles' innovative music and cultural impact helped define the 1960s, and their influence on pop culture is still evident today. In 2008, Billboard magazine released a list of top-selling Hot 100 artists to celebrate the chart's fiftieth anniversary, with The Beatles at #1. The Beatles were collectively included in Time magazine's list of The Most Important People of the 20th Century.
